Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW) handed Marine Cpl. Jed Morgan the keys to a brand new mortgage-free, handicap-accessible home in Medford, Oregon this past Friday.
“Days like this are so special because we finally get to hand the house over to them and let them begin their new life,” JAH4WW founder and former pro football star, Jared Allen, said at the key ceremony. “Home should be your most secure spot at your most vulnerable time and that’s what we want to give these guys.”
Cpl. Jed Morgan became the eighth recipient of a new home courtesy of JAH4WW and its supporters. Three months after marrying his wife, Anna, in 2009, Cpl. Morgan was deployed to Afghanistan. On June 21, 2012, he was critically injured in an IED explosion. As a result, he lost both of his legs and all mobility in his dominant arm. Morgan spent the next 12 weeks at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he was honored with a Purple Heart for his service and sacrifice.
Despite his life-altering injuries, Cpl. Morgan has remained hopeful and positive. However, living in a home that is not handicap-accessible has made even the simplest everyday tasks extremely challenging. JAH4WW proudly teamed up with the White Heart Foundation, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Mid-Valley Commercial Construction, and S&B James Construction Management to provide Cpl. Morgan, his wife, and their young daughter a home that suits their needs.
